The MESSIAH

HASHEM had formed Israel to be a holy nation to Himself.  He had designed Israel to be a nation of kings and priests that was separate from the nations of the gentiles.  He gave the children of Israel their own land according to the promise that He had made to their father Abraham אברהם.  He had given them the Torah תורה so they could be free from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.  They would not be defiled by the pollutions of the idols that were worshipped by the gentile nations that surrounded them.  HASHEM would dwell in their midst and manifest His glory to all the nations of the earth.

But Israel did not obey the voice of HASHEM.  They married foreign wives and became defiled by the idols of their nations.  They became corrupted by the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.  Now gentile empires arose and occupied the land of Israel.  They mightily oppressed the sons of Jacob.

In the fullness of time HASHEM counseled to send forth His son the Messiah המשיח to redeem Israel as He had promised David and Abraham.  The Messiah המשיח would accomplish four things for the redemption and salvation of His people.  These accomplishments could result in the regeneration of the entire world.  These four things had been given to the prophet Daniel דניאל by the angel Gabriel גבריאל who HASHEM had sent to Daniel when he was making intercession for Israel.

1.  To finish the transgression

   Destroy the tree of the knowledge of good and evil

2.    To make an end of sin

Destroy sin

3.   To atone for iniquity

Forgive and remove the iniquity of the people

4.   To bring in everlasting righteousness

Destroy death and bring in a new order through the resurrection from the dead

The Fullness of Time

The Roman empire had extended its hegemony to control most of the nations of the western world.  This was the terrible hybrid beast with teeth of iron seen by Daniel the prophet.  The power of the empire had been consolidated into the hands of one man.  The name of this man was Octavius, the great nephew and adopted son of the celebrated general Julius Caesar.    He was given the title of Augustus Caesar.   He had confirmed his rule over the empire.  The fullness of time had arrived for the coming of the Messiah המשיח.

 Augustus Caesar issued a decree that all ethnicities and families under his sovereign sway should return to their home towns to register in a censor so that they could be taxed.  This would guarantee that Roman coffers would have a continuous vastly abundant streaming supply of money.  The fullness of time had arrived for the coming of the Messiah המשיח.

HASHEM formed the Messiah המשיח in the womb of a woman in order to fulfill the promise that He had made to Eve חוה after she had sinned in the Garden of Eden  גן עדן.  This promise was in the judgment and the prophecy that HASHEM made to the serpent.

And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise you head, and you shalt bruise his heel.

Genesis 3:15

The prophets of Israel also spoke about this miracle.

How long wilt thou turn away coyly, O you backsliding daughter? (Israel)

For the LORD will create a new thing in the earth:

a woman shall compass a man.

And he said: “Hear now, O house of David: Is it a small thing for you to weary men, that you will weary my God also?

 Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign:

 Behold, the virgin shall conceive, and bear a son,

and shall call his name Immanuel.

The woman that HASHEM chose for this miracle was in the direct line of the house of David through David’s son Nathan.  David דוד named him Nathan נתן  after the name of the prophet Nathan נתן הנביא who had delivered to him the promise of HASHEM that the Messiah  המשיח would come through David’s own seed.

Nathan’s mother was Bathsheba בת-שבע .  David had five sons by her.  The first son died.  Nathan was one of the four remaining sons.

The young woman Miriam מרים  lived in the town of Nazareth in Galilee at the time.  HASHEM sent the angel Gabriel גבריאל  to her to announce to her what HASHEM was going to do.  Gabriel also told her the son’s name and a prophecy about who the son was.

Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Miriam.

And the angel said to her, Fear not, Miriam: for you have found favor with God.

And behold, you shall conceive in your womb, and bring forth a son, and shall call his name JESUS -YESHUA.

He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

and he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

This was spoken to fulfil the Word of HASHEM in the prophecy of the Scripture.

 For a child is born unto us, a son is given unto us;

 and the government shall be upon his shoulder;

and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and of peace there be no end,

upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom,

to establish it, and to uphold it through justice and through righteousness

from this time and even forever.

 The zeal of the LORD of hosts shall perform this.

Isaiah 9:5-6

Joseph יוסף, the man to whom Miriam was betrothed to be married, was in the direct royal line of the house of David through Solomon שלמה.  Solomon’s mother was Bathsheba בת-שבע.  Like his brother Nathan, he was one of her four remaining children

 that she had by David the King המלך דוד.

 HASHEM chose to give to Solomon שלמה the royal rights to the throne of David.  Joseph possessed these royal rights through Solomon.  The angel appeared to Joseph and told him to marry Miriam מרים so that the son that was to be born would possess the rights of the firstborn, and the royal rights to the throne of David.

But when he thought on these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, fear not to take unto Miriam to be your wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

And she shall bring forth a son; and you shall call his name JESUS-YESHUA; for it is he who shall save his people from their sins.

At this time HASHEM caused Augustus Caesar to issue a decree that all ethnicities and families under his sovereign sway should return to their home towns to register in a censor so that they could be taxed.  This would guarantee that Roman coffers would have a continuous vastly abundant streaming supply of money.  This decree forced Joseph and Miriam to leave Nazareth and go to Bethlehem בית לחם , the city of David, so that the Messiah המשיח could be born there according to the prophet.

But you, Beth-lehem Ephrathah, who are little to be among the thousands of Judah, out of you shall one come forth unto Me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth are from of old, from ancient days (everlasting).

Micah 5:1

The Romans sought to kill the Messiah.  The Messiah was the stone that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had seen in his dream.  The stone was cut out without hands and smashed the empires of the gentiles, and filled the earth with the Jewish empire of the kingdom of HASHEM.   About two years after the Messiah’s birth, Herod the Edomite king and puppet of Rome, discovered that the Messiah המשיח was in Bethlehem.  The angel of HASHEM warned Joseph to take his wife and the child, and flee into Egypt.  When Herod discovered he could not find the exact  location of the child, he sent his soldiers and murdered all the Jewish boys  in Bethlehem and the region around it that were two years old or younger.  This fulfilled the words of the prophet:

Thus says the LORD: A voice is heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping, Rachel weeping for her children; she refuses to be comforted for her children, because they are not.

Joseph remained in Egypt with his family until Herod died.  Then the angel of HASHEM told Joseph that he could return to the land of Israel.  But the angel warned him not to settle in Jerusalem or the region of Judea round about it because Archelaus Herod’s son was now in power in Jerusalem.   Joseph and his family left Egypt and returned to Israel.  Joseph avoided Jerusalem and Judea and settled again in Nazareth in Galilee.  After he had settled, he knew his wife Miriam and had four more sons and daughters other than the Messiah המשיח the firstborn.

Yeshua the Messiah ישוע המשיח was amazingly, extraordinarily precocious during his childhood, youth, and early manhood.  He grew in wisdom and stature and had favor with HASHEM and with man.  He knew all the Scriptures in the Torah, the Prophets, the Psalms, and the Writings of Israel.  When he was thirteen years old, for his Bar Mitzvah, he was found in the Temple in Jerusalem, speaking with the scribes and the elders.  They were astounded by his wisdom, his understanding, and his knowledge.  This happened during the feast of the Passover פסח, when Joseph and Miriam came to Jerusalem for the feast.

 I have more understanding than all my teachers; for Your Testimonies are my meditation.

 I understand more than my elders, because I have kept Your Precepts.

I have refrained my feet from every evil way, in order that I might observe Your Word.

I have not turned aside from Your Ordinances; for You have instructed me.

How sweet are Your Words unto my palate! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

 Yeshua ישוע remained in Nazareth until he was thirty years old.  Then came the time for the revealing of the Messiah המשיח to Israel.  Psalm 119 describes the childhood, the youth, and the early manhood of the Messiah משיח.  This description is contained in the verses under each section formed and framed by each of the letters of the Hebrew alphabet that are contained in this acrostic psalm.

The Announcement of the Messiah

HASHEM sent a Kohen כהן who was directly descended

 from Aaron the High Priest

 to prepare all Israel for the coming of the Messiah המשיח and to announce his appearing.

The man’s name was John the son of Zechariah HASHEM had named him and set him aside from his mother’s womb for this purpose.  When John יוחנן was thirty years old, he began calling the children of Israel to repent and cleanse themselves from the uncleanness and defilements of their sins in the mikvah מקוה  in the waters of the river Jordan in the wilderness.  This was so they could be ready, prepared for the holiness of HASHEM and His kingdom when the Messiah משיח was revealed.

 John came in the spirit and the power of Elijah  the prophet

HASHEM caused all Israel to come down to John to the mikvah to be immersed in the waters of the river, confessing their sins.  The river Jordan was where the children of Israel had crossed over into the land of Canaan after being forty years in the wilderness after they had come out of Egypt.  HASHEM brought His people through the waters of the river into the land that He promised to give to them.  Then they were circumcised and kept the Passover.  Now the children of Israel were returning to the river.   This was to fulfill the words of the prophet.

The voice of who cries in the wilderness: “Prepare the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill shall be made low; and the rugged shall be made level, and the rough places a plain;

And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.”

Isaiah 40:3-5

All Israel was eagerly waiting in earnest expectation for the appearing of the Messiah the son of David

Yeshua ישוע came from Nazareth and went down to the river Jordan for the mikvah in the waters of the river.  He stood before John יוחנן on his thirtieth birthday. This was the age that the Torah תורה prescribed for entering the ministry in the Tabernacle and the Temple.

From thirty years old and upward even until fifty years old, all who enter upon the army (ministry), to do work in the Tabernacle of the Congregation.

Numbers 4:3

When Yeshua ישוע came up out the waters of the mikvah, the heavens opened up, and the Spirit of HASHEM came down out of heaven in the form of a dove,

and rested upon Yeshua ישוע.

The voice of HASHEM thundered from heaven, saying

This is my beloved son,

In whom I am well pleased.

HASHEM had told John יוחנן beforehand that when he would see this happen, this was the Messiah of Israel.  John bore witness that this was indeed the Messiah ממשיח for whom Israel was waiting.

Immediately afterward the Spirit of G-d רוח אלהים pressed and led Yeshua ישוע into the desert to be tempted by the devil.  At the end of forty days, Satan appeared and tempted Yeshua.  But Yeshua ישוע defeated satan in every temptation by quoting the Word of HASHEM that was written in the Torah.  Yeshua the Messiah ישוע המשיח returned to Galilee in great victory.  He was the Memra ממרא of HASHEM.   He was filled with the Spirit of G-d רוח אלהים without measure.  The power of the Spirit of G-d רוח אלהים upon him was limitless and boundless.

You have loved righteousness, and hated wickedness;
therefore God, your God, has anointed you

with the oil of gladness above your companions.

Psalms 45:8

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of the messenger of good tidings, who proclaims peace; who announces good news, who proclaims salvation; who says to Zion: “Your God reigns!”

Isaiah 52:7

The Work of the Messiah

The Messiah המשיח stayed far away from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.  He abhorred the tree.   Its fruit was repugnant and repulsive to him.  He came to destroy the tree with its fruit.  Yeshua ישוע did not walk by his five senses.  He did not utilize his five senses in making decisions or judgments.  He was led by the Spirit of G-d רוח אלקים.    The Messiah המשיח  only made decisions that were directed by the Spirit of HASHEM רוח יה.

And there shall come forth a rod out of the stock of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow forth out of his roots.

And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.

And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD; and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes,

neither reprove after the hearing of his ears;

Isaiah 11:1-3

The Messiah המשיח did not seek his own pleasure, or do things to please himself.  He did not walk after his own thoughts and the counsels of his own heart.  He did not walk according to his own decisions.  He sought only to do the will of HASHEM.

 Sacrifice and meal-offering you have no delight in; You have opened my ears.
Burnt-offering and sin-offering You have not required.

Then said I: “Behold, I come!  In the scroll of the book it is written about me.

 I delight to do Your Will, O my God!

 Your Law is in my innermost parts.”

Psalms 40:7-9

When Yeshua ישוע came into Galilee in the power of the Holy Spirit רוח הקודש, he began proclaiming the kingdom of G-d to the children of Israel:

Repent, for the kingdom of G-d is at hand.

Then He went up to his home town of Nazareth, and entered the synagogue on the Sabbath.  When the scroll of Isaiah was given to him, he opened it and read the prophecy.

 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the meek; He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

To proclaim the year of the LORD’S good pleasure

Isaiah 61:1-2

The Messiah המשיח only went to the children of Israel.  He did not go into the cities of the Gentiles.  He avoided Roman and Greek cities.  He only went into the synagogues of the children of Israel.  He did not preach to the Gentiles.  His miracles were only for the children of Israel.  Yeshua ישוע healed all sicknesses among the people.  There was no sickness or disease that he was not able to heal.  He cast devils or demons out of people who were possessed, tormented, and held captive, imprisoned by unclean spirits.  He released them from their tormentors, and set them free into the glorious liberty of the kingdom of HASHEM.  There was not one demon or unclean spirit that Yeshua ישוע could not cast out. They were all subject to the Word of the Messiah המשיח, and they had to obey him.  Yeshua ישוע opened blind eyes, opened deaf ears, released the dumb to speak, healed the lame and the crippled, and straightened the backs of the bent over.  He cleansed the lepers.  This was the sign of the Messiah המשיח, that like the sign that HASHEM had given to Moses משה, HASHEM gave this sign also to the Messiah המשיח.  There was no leprosy that Yeshua ישוע could not heal.  He also restored the body parts that had been eaten away by the disease.  Yeshua ישוע also raised from the dead people who had died.  Nothing was impossible for him.

Multitudes of people followed him.  The Spirit of HASHEM was upon him with such power that people could be healed simply by touching the clothes that he wore.  As many as touched his garments were healed.  The words of the prophets were fulfilled.

Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the tottering knees.

Say to them that are of a fearful heart: “Be strong, fear not’; behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God He will come and save you.”

Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened,

 and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.

Then shall the lame man leap as a hart,

and the tongue of the dumb shall sing;

 for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.

Isaiah 35:3-6

Who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives bread to the hungry The LORD sets free the prisoners;

The LORD opens the eyes of the blind;

 The LORD makes straight the spines of them that are bowed over;

 The LORD loves the righteous;

Psalms 146:7-8

The Messiah המשיח also had power over the natural elements.  Yeshua ישוע calmed the raging waves of the sea and commanded the furious winds to stop blowing.  He caused a great calm to come upon the waters.   He could even walk on the face of the waters.  He could multiply a few loaves of bread, and a few fishes, so that they could feed thousands of people.

The Messiah המשיח chose twelve students תלמידים and trained them.  It was one student תלמיד for each of the twelve tribes of Israel.  He gave them authority and power to cast out unclean spirits, and to heal all diseases and sicknesses.  He sent them in teams of two to cities and synagogues in the region.  He strictly commanded them to not go into the cities and the places occupied by the gentiles.  They were only to go to the children of Israel.

In another place and time Yeshua ישוע called out seventy other students to go to the cities and the synagogues in the region round about.  This number matched the number of the seventy elders of Israel.  He gave them power and authority over all unclean spirits, and all sicknesses and diseases.  He sent them out in pairs of two, and again he commanded them not to go to the gentiles.  These seventy students returned to Yeshua ישוע after their adventures with great joy, rejoicing that the demons and the sicknesses were subject to them. This fulfilled the prophecy of the Scripture.

Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings You have ordained praise
because of Your adversaries; that You might still the enemy and the avenger.

Psalms 8:3

 But in spite of the exhilarating success of these seventy, they did not continue with Yeshua ישוע and remain with him to the end as did the twelve whom he had chosen.

Yeshua ישוע rebuked the religious leaders, the Sadducees, the Pharisees, the Scribes, and the Herodians because they did not believe.  Their doctrine had been polluted by Babylon and infected by the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.  They held onto their concepts and traditions and refused to repent.

 And the Lord said: Forasmuch as this people draw near, and with their mouth and with their lips do honor Me, but have removed their heart far from Me, and their fear toward Me is a commandment of men learned by rote, taught by the precepts of men.

 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, even a marvelous work and a wonder; for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the prudence of their prudent men shall be hid.

Three and one half years the Messiah המשיח had proclaimed the kingdom of HASHEM among the children of Israel.  He had confirmed the kingdom with signs and wonders, and a multitude of different kinds of miracles.  He demonstrated the power of the kingdom of David by healing the sick and casting out demons, and setting free the afflicted and oppressed into the marvelous liberty of the kingdom.

The LORD hath established His throne in the heavens;

 and His kingdom rule over all governments.

After three and one half years, the time had now come for Yeshua ישוע to perform and complete the plan and the will of his Father HASHEM in the earth.  The Messiah המשיח  was going to destroy the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, destroy sin, remove iniquity, and establish eternal righteousness according to the prophecy given to Daniel.   To accomplish this he had to become the Korban קרבן, the sacrifice for sin, on Mount Moriah in Jerusalem.
