Jerusalem, the Holiness of G-d, and the Destruction Of the Gentile Nations

The Holiness of G-d is not something that can be taken lightly.  Jerusalem is the center of Judea and Samaria.  These three are holy, belonging to HASHEM.  This is especially signally true for Jerusalem ירושלים.

This is the city of the Great King The Tanach התנך declares this specifically:

For the LORD has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His habitation:

This is My resting-place forever; here will I dwell; for I have desired it.

Many people do not respect the Holiness of HASHEM.  Whatever HASHEM touches becomes holy.  When HASHEM reveals and declares in the Torah and the Prophets of Israel that some places or things belong to the LORD of HOSTS הי צבאות, this truth of their holiness becomes greatly magnified.   Sometimes people don’t perceive these places or things to be holy at all, and they trample all over them.  This becomes a SNARE to them, and they can be destroyed by their ignorance or presumption.

It is a snare to a man to devour that which is holy, and after vows to make inquiry

Proverbs 20:25

This was true of Aaron’s two oldest sons, and also of Uzzah who grabbed hold of the Ark of the Covenant.

Aaron’s two sons, Nadab and Abihu נדב ואביהוא, had been sanctified and anointed for the service of the priesthood כהנה.  They had been dressed by Moses in the holy garments.  But they became presumptuous, uplifted in their hearts, and they thought that they could treat the holy things of HASHEM with disrespect.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the holy is understanding

Proverbs 9:10

They lost their FEAR of HASHEM.  They offered strange fire, not commanded by HASHEM.  They were smitten by HASHEM so that they died.

And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took each of them his censer, and put fire therein, and laid incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which He had not commanded them.

 And there came forth fire from before the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.

Leviticus 10:1-2

Uzzah עזא also, during the time of King David דוד המלך , made a tragic mistake.  The Ark of G-d had been in his father’s house for some time.  He and his brother Ahio אחיו had been watching it for many days.  Uzzah became too familiar with the Ark.  He lost his fear of HASHEM.  When David came to move the Ark from his father’s house to bring it to Jerusalem, the Ark was put on an ox cart which was pulled by oxen.  Uzzah walked beside the ox cart and his brother walked in front of the cart.  When the cart shook because of uneven ground, Uzzah grabbed hold of the Ark.  This was his destruction.  The wrath of HASHEM was kindled against Uzzah, and HASEHM smote Uzzah so that he died suddenly beside the Ark.   David became afraid of HASHEM and put the Ark in the house of Obed-edom for a while.

 And David again gathered together all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.

And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him, from Baale-judah, to bring up from thence the Ark of God, whereupon is called the Name, even the name of the LORD of hosts who sits upon the cherubim.

And they set the Ark of God upon a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was in the hill; and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drove the new cart.

And they brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was in the hill, with the Ark of God, and Ahio went before the Ark.

And David and all the house of Israel played before the LORD with all manner of instruments made of cypress-wood, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with sistra, and with cymbals.

And when they came to the threshing-floor of Nacon, Uzzah put forth his hand to the Ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen stumbled.

And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the Ark of God.

 And David was displeased, because the LORD had broken forth upon Uzzah; and that place was called Perez-uzzah, unto this day.

And David was afraid of the LORD that day; and he said: ‘How shall the Ark of the LORD come unto me?’

So David would not remove the Ark of the LORD unto him into the city of David; but David carried it aside into the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.

These two accounts, one in the Torah about the two oldest sons of Aaron, and the other in the Prophets, about Uzzah the son of Abinadab, are relevant for the course of history in the world today.  These two accounts exhort us to fear HASHEM,  and to have great respect for the holy things that belong to Him.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom;

A good understanding have all they that do them
His praise endures forever.

Psalms 111:10

The nations of the earth do not perceive the holiness of HASHEM that is on His possessions.

Surely I am brutish, unlike a man, and have not the understanding of a man;

 And I have not learned wisdom, that I should have the knowledge of the Holy Things.

Proverbs 30:2-3

There is no fear of HASHEM before the eyes of these nations.

The wicked through the pride of his countenance will not seek after God:  God is not in all his thoughts.

Psalms 10:4

Transgression of the wicked says within my heart

-there is no fear of God before his eyes.

Psalms 36:1

Therefore these gentile nations גוים are presumptuous and proud.  They are not afraid to stretch forth their hands and touch the holy things of HASHEM.  Even if they at some point realize that HASHEM says that Jerusalem is His holy city. and that it is His personal possession, they don’t think that HASHEM exists, and that He has the power to protect His own property.

Therefore HASHEM will grate them and shred them like one grates and shreds a block of cheese.  Then He will cut them to pieces.  As it is written in the Prophet:

And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will make Jerusalem

 a stone of burden for all the peoples;

 all that burden themselves with it

 shall be shredded and cut to pieces;

and all the nations of the earth shall be gathered together against it.

Zechariah 12:3

It does not matter if the country is Russia, China, Iran, the European Union, or any other gentile nation, or group of gentile nations, HASHEM will shred them and cut them to pieces.

It does not matter how much military power, or what kind of weapons they boast that they possess, HASHEM WILL SHRED THEM AND CUT THEM TO PIECES.

Then the Messiah Yeshua המשיח ישוע will appear in His glory.
