The Psalms for the receiving of the Sabbath
or Kabbalat Shabbat קבלת שבת have
common theme: The Kingship of HASHEM.
In actuality the celebration of Shabbat is a
declaration of the Kingship of HASHEM.
The reason these Psalms have been chosen
for Kabbalat Shabbat קבלת שבת is because
they declare the Kingship of HASHEM,
and the declaration and acceptance of
the Kingship of HASHEM
causes us to enter into the rest
that resides in the authority of HASHEM.
Nothing has power over HASHEM.
The acknowledgment of this fact
brings us into a place of rest
in our minds, and in our souls.
It is a delight.
It is taking a vacation
from the stress, and worries,
and troubles of this world.
The world lies in wickedness.
But HASHEM is holy,
and he is enthroned far above
all these ‘other gods.’
The declaration and receiving
of his Kingship brings us into
a sense of peace שלום and well being,
which is immediate,
and far beyond anything
our own work could accomplish.
It is the Sabbath or the rest of HASHEM.
We can relax and recline
in the safety of the
shadow of his wings בצל עליון.
In this place we become
renewed, refreshed, and strengthened.
We have a sense of the royalty of HASHEM
upon ourselves, and we are clothed
with royal apparel.
We will follow with some of
the declarations of the Psalms.
In Psalm 95:3.
“For a Great G-d is HASHEM,
and a great King over all gods.”
In Psalm 96:4-5.
“HASHEM is great,
and greatly to be praised;
he is awesome (terrible)
above all gods.
All the gods of the peoples
are idols (nothings);
But HASHEM made the heavens.”
In Psalm 97:1,7,9.
“HASHEM reigns;
let the earth rejoice;
let the numerous isles be glad.
Worship him, all you gods.
Ashamed will all those be
who serve images,
who praise themselves
in worthless idols.
HASHEM is exceedingly exalted
far above all gods.
HASHEM is the most high
above all the earth.”

In Psalm 98:3
“All the ends of the earth
have seen the Messiah (Yeshua)
of our G-d.
He remembers his mercy
and his faith
to the house of Israel.”

In Psalm 99:1,2,4.
“HASHEM reigns;
the nations tremble;
He sits between the cheribims,
the earth moves and shakes.
HASHEM is great in Zion;
He is high above all the people.
Mighty is the King
who loves judgment.”

Finally, Psalm 92 is the royal Psalm
of the Shabbat. In its recitation we
accept upon ourselves the holiness
of the Shabbat.
But why is this Psalm chosen and not another?
The answer is that it is this Psalm
that refers not only to the weekly Sabbath,
but to the Messianic Age and the World to Come.
When the Messiah Yeshua
reigns over all the earth from Jerusalem,
all will be at rest המנוחה .
This is the Day When All is Shabbat.
There will be no more wars,
and the lion will lie down with the lamb,
according to the Prophet Isaiah.
Isaiah 11: 5-9.
“And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins,
and faith the girdle of his reins.
The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb,
and the leopard shall lie down with the goat,
and the calf and the young lion
and the young cow together;
And a little child shall lead them.
And the cow and the bear shall feed;
their young ones shall lie down together:
and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
And the sucking child shall play
on the hole of the asp,
and the weaned child shall put his hand
on the cokatrice’ den.
They shall not hurt nor destroy
all my holy mountain.”
Then shall the melodies of praise
to HASHEM be heard from Jerusalem
throughout the hills of Judea,
and all over the land.
The Messiah Yeshua
shall reign with absolute authority.
Isaiah 11:4.
“But with righteousness
shall he judge the poor,
and reprove with equity
for the meek of the earth:
and he shall smite the earth
with the rod of his mouth,
and with the breath of his lips
shall he slay the wicked.”
He will break the nations
like a potter’s vessel,
and rule over them
with a rod of iron.
Psalm 2:6-9.
“Yet have I set my King
upon my holy hill of Zion.
I will declare the decree:
HASHEM has said to me,
You are my Son;
this day have I begotten you.
Ask of me, and I shall give you
the nations for your inheritance,
and the uttermost parts of the earth
for your possession.
You shall break them with a rod of iron;
you shall dash them in pieces
like a potter’s vessel.”
The Messiah Yeshua
will require the nations
to come to Jerusalem
to celebrate the feast of tabernacles,
and he will punish them
if they refuse to come.
Zechariah 14:16-17.
“And it shall come to pass
that every one who is left
of all the nations
which came against Jerusalem
shall even go up from year to year
to worship the King,
HASHEM of the armies,
and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
and it shall be, that whoever
will not come up
of all the families of the earth
to Jerusalem
to worship the King,
HASHEM of the armies,
even upon them shall be no rain.”
Then all nations of the earth
shall flow into Jerusalem
according to the words of the Prophets.
Isaiah 2:2-4; Micah 4:1-7.
“And it shall come to pass
in the last days,
that the mountain of the House of HASHEM
shall be established
in the top of the mountains,
and shall be exalted above the hills,
and all nations shall flow unto it.
And many people shall go and say,
Come, and let us go up
to the mountain of HASHEM,
to the House of the G-d of Jacob;
and he will teach us his ways,
and we will walk in his paths;
for out of Zion shall go forth the law,
and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
And he shall judge among the nations,
and shall rebuke may people:
and they shall beat
their swords into plowshares,
and their spears into pruninghooks:
nation shall not lift up
sword against nation,
neither shall they learn war any more.”
As a result of the spiritual
and physical perfection of
the Messiah Yeshua המשיח ישוע
in his resurrection body when
he reigns on the throne of David
from Jerusalem,
the knowledge of HASHEM
will cover the earth.
Isaiah 11:9.
“For the earth shall be fulll
of the knowledge of HASHEM,
as the waters cover the sea.”
THIS IS THE DAY WHEN ALL IS SHABBAT.
This fulfills the desire of HASHEM
when he chose Israel as his people,
and he gave us the Torah.
He expressed this desire to us
when our fathers were in the wilderness.
Numbers 14:20-21.
“And HASHEM said,
I have pardoned (Israel)
according to your (Moses’) word:
But truly as I live,
all the earth shall be filled
with the glory of HASHEM.”
This is why Yeshua ישוע said:
“The son of man is
the Lord of the Sabbath.”
It is also why
the Messiah Yeshua משיח ישוע
is called the ‘Prince of Peace.’
Isaiah 9:6.
“And his name shall be called
the prince of peace .”
