The Tabernacle of David and the Priesthood

II Samuel 6. David officiated in the office

of a Priest כהן , the Aaronic Levitical order,

during the time in which he initiated and

presided over the bringing up of the

Ark of the LORD ארון יהוה to

Mount Zion הר ציון in Jerusalem.

He also officiated in this office during

the setting up and establishing the Ark

on Mount Zion in the tabernacle which

he built for it.

This is prophetic because David was

from the tribe of Judah יהודה and not

from the tribe of Levi לוי .

1. In II Samuel 6:14 David wore the

linen ephod, the garment of the priests.

“And David danced before the LORD

with all his might;

And David was girded with a linen ephod.”

2. In II Samuel 6:17 David offered burnt offerings

and peace offerings to the LORD.

“And they brought in the Ark of the LORD,

and set it in its place,

in the midst of the tabernacle

that David had pitched for it:

And David offered burnt offerings

and peace offerings before the LORD.

3. In II Samuel 6:18 David blessed

the people [ALL of Israel (II Samuel 6:15)]

in the NAME of the LORD of Hosts.

And as soon as David had made an end

of offering burnt offerings

and peace offerings,

he blessed the people

in the NAME of the LORD of Hosts.

Why did HASHEM allow David

to perform the functions of the

Cohenim כוהנים when HASHEM

had specifically declared that these

functions were reserved ONLY for

Aaron and his sons?

The answer is that the Messiah,

who was to spring out of the loins of David,

was prophesied to fill the office

of BOTH the kingמלך and the priest כהן.

Zechariah the Prophet declares

in Zechariah 6:12-13:

“And speak to him, saying,

Thus speaks the LORD of Hosts, saying,

Behold the man

whose name is The BRANCH צמח

and he shall grow up out of this place,

and he shall build

the temple of the LORD:

Even he shall build the

temple of the LORD;

and he shall bear the glory,

and shall sit and rule

upon his throne;

and he shall be a priest

upon his throne:

and the counsel of peace

shall be between them both.”

And again it is declared

concerning the Messiah

in Psalm 110:4:

“The LORD has sworn

and will not repent,

You are a priest כהן forever

after the order of Melchizedek.”

The Messiah Yeshua

who is the son of David,

stepped into the function

and office of the Cohen כהן

when he fulfilled the prophesies

of the Prophet Isaiah

in Isaiah 53:4,5,8:

“Surely he has borne our griefs

and carried our sorrows:

But he was wounded for our transgressions,

he was bruised for our iniquities:

the chastisement of our peace

was upon him;

and with his stripes

we are healed.

The LORD has laid upon him

the iniquity of us all.

For the transgression of my people

was he stricken.”

Thus the Messiah Yeshua

fulfilled the prophecy

of the Prophet Daniel

in Daniel 9:24 when he

“Finished the transgression,

made an end of sins,

made reconciliation for iniquity,

and brought in everlasting righteousness.”

He then fulfils the position as king

when the Prophet Isaiah says

in Isaiah 53:10:

“And the pleasure of the LORD

Part II The House of G-d.

II Samuel 7. David wanted to build

a House for the Ark of the LORD.

“And it came to pass,

when the king sat in his house,

And the LORD had given him rest round about

from all his enemies;

That the king said to Nathan the prophet,

See now, I dwell in an house of cedar,

but the Ark of G-d dwells within curtains.”

HASHEM saw the heart of David

and at this point gave to him

the promise of the Messiah.

The Messiah would come out

of David’s bowels;

he would set up his throne

in the house of David;

and he would rule and reign

over all Israel forever.

Moreover HASHEM says to David

in II Samuel 7:11

“Also the LORD tells you that

He will make you a house.”

This word HASHEM fulfilled

when he raised from the dead

the Messiah Yeshua משיח ישוע

on the third day.

HASHEM built David a house

in the form of a new

resurrection body when he

raised his son from the dead.

Then he says to David

II Samuel 7:16

“And your house and your kingdom

shall be established forever

before you:

your throne shall be established forever.”

This can only be when

he raises David from the dead.

This was the great promise that

David trusted in during his latter years.

HASHEM goes on to say

“He shall build a house for my name,

and I will establish the throne

of his kingdom forever.”

II Samuel 7:14.

This was David’s great

hope and his great trust,

for he said

“For your word’s sake,

and according to your own heart,

you have done these great things,

to make your servant know them.”

David saw them already done

in the eyes of a prophet

in the Messiah Yeshua משיח ישוע .

Part III The Wars of David and of the Messiah.

II Samuel 8. David extended the border of

Israel to the river Euphrates.

“David smote also Hadadezer,

the son of Rehob, king of Zobah,

as he went to recover his border

at the river Euphrates.”

These are the borders

established by HASHEM

to the Messiah for Israel.

2. The name of the Messiah

which is Yeshua (Jesus) is given

after the FIRST SET OF WARS.

II Samuel 8:6.

“And the LORD ‘yesha’ ‘et’

or saved, preserved, gave success,

to David where ever he went.”

This phrase contains the root of

name of the Messiah ‘Yesha’ ישע

in a formula of three words, all attesting

that the Messiah was working

with David to give him victory

over all his enemies in all his military battles.

1. 2. 3.

3. 2. 1.

The phrase said in reverse order reveals

the Messiah Yeshua at work in these battles.

Notice that in either order

the Name Adonai יהוה remains

in the middle. This is the title given

to the Messiah by Jeremiah the prophet

in Jeremiah 23:6:

“And this is the name

whereby he shall be called

‘the LORD our righteousness.'”

The word ET את is the composed

of the first and the last letters

of the Hebrew alphabet revealing

the secret name of the Messiah

who is the FIRST and the LAST

of all things.

These three words put together reveal

the Trinity at work in the victory

of David in each of his battles.

The name of Yeshua is mentioned

a SECOND time in the SAME phrase

after the SECOND SET OF WARS.

II Samuel 8:14.

“And the LORD ‘yesha’ ‘et’

or saved, preserved, gave success,

to David where ever he went.”

When the same thing is said TWO TIMES,

it means that it has been CONFIRMED

by HASHEM.

The name of the Messiah

Yeshua ישוע is revealed after

the promise of the Messiah

in chapter 7 of second Samuel.

This show the ongoing revelation

of the Messiah משיח and

his activity

after the promise given.

The Messiah is a great warrior

and he establishes the kingdom.

Psalm 24:8.

The LORD strong and mighty,

the LORD mighty in battle.”

The Messiah has conquered

all the enemies of Israel, and

As it is written in Isaiah 26:19:

“Your dead men shall live,

together with my dead body

shall they arise.

Awake and sing,

you that dwell in dust:

for your dew is as the dew of herbs,

and the earth shall cast out the dead.”

to build the eternal temple of G-d.

Part IV David’s Reign and the Reign of the Messiah

II Samuel 8:15.

“And David reigned over all Israel;

And David executed

judgment and justice

to all his people.”

Judgment משפט and

Justice

These are the two qualities

of the reign of the kingdom of G-d.

Psalm 99:4 declares

“You execute judgment

and justice in Jacob.”

The same two qualities

are declared to be

characteristic of the

reign of the Messiah

in Jeremiah 23:5.

“Behold, the days come,

says the LORD,

that I will raise to David

a righteous Branch,

and a King shll reign and prosper,

and shall execute

judgment and justice

in the earth.”

Jeremiah 33:20-21.

“Thus says the LORD;

If you can break my covenant of the day,

and my covenant of the night,

and that there should not be

day and night in their season;

Then may also my covenant be broken

with David my servant,

that he should not have a son

to reign upon his throne;

and with the Levites

the priests, my ministers.”

David’s sons were priests

or chief rulers. II Samuel 8:18.

“And David’s sons were kohanim.”

Through the New Birth,

by trusting in the

Messiah Yeshua

HASHEM has made every Jew

who believes on Yeshua ישוע

to be kings and priests in the earth.

This is a sure word

fixed and established

by HASHEM a second time.

For he says in Jeremiah 33:26:

“Thus says the LORD;

If my covenant be not with day and night,

and if I have not appointed

the ordinances of heaven and earth;

Then will I cast away

the seed of Jacob,

and David my servant,

so that I will not take

of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob:

for I will cause their captivity to return,
